Assessing influence in Gaussian long-memory models

چکیده
A statistical methodology for detecting influential observations in long-memory models is proposed. The identification of these influential points is carried out by case-deletion techniques. In particular, a Kullback–Leibler divergence is considered to measure the effect of a subset of observations on predictors and smoothers. These techniques are illustrated with an analysis of the River Nile data where the proposed methods are compared to other well-known approaches such as the Cook and the Mahalanobis distances. c © 2008 Elsevier B.V. A Class of Generalized Long-Memory Time Series Models
This paper introduces a family of “generalized long-memory time series models”, in which observations have a specified conditional distribution, given a latent Gaussian fractionally integrated autoregressive moving average (ARFIMA) process. The observations may have discrete or continuous distributions (or a mixture of both). The family includes existing models such as ARFIMA models themselves,...
متن کاملMaximum likelihood estimators and random walks in long memory models
We consider statistical models driven by Gaussian and non-Gaussian self-similar processes with long memory and we construct maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) for the drift parameter. Our approach is based in the non-Gaussian case on the approximation by random walks of the driving noise. We study the asymptotic behavior of the estimators and we give some numerical simulations to illustrate ou...

متن کاملParameter Estimation in Spatial Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Skew Gaussian Random Effects using Laplace Approximation
Spatial generalized linear mixed models are used commonly for modelling non-Gaussian discrete spatial responses. We present an algorithm for parameter estimation of the models using Laplace approximation of likelihood function. In these models, the spatial correlation structure of data is carried out by random effects or latent variables. In most spatial analysis, it is assumed that rando...
متن کاملSelf-Normalization for Heavy-Tailed Time Series with Long Memory
Many time series data sets have heavy tails and/or long memory, both of which are well-known to greatly influence the rate of convergence of the sample mean. Typically, time series analysts consider models with either heavy tails or long memory, but this paper considers both effects at the same time. This paper is essentially a theoretical case study, which explores the growth rate of the sampl...
